Come learn the basics for identifying fleshy fungi (including mushrooms), their important role in the ecosystem and an overview of the entire fungal kingdom. We will go through the features you will need to know in order to use any of the many mushroom guides and field books. The emphasis will be on field identification techniques. This includes collecting and preserving. You will become familiar with the major groups of mushrooms. The classroom session will be one weekday evening, followed by a Saturday field trip. In the field we will identify mushrooms and other fungi, and gain a first-hand appreciation of these interesting and important organisms.
This class is limited to 40 participants, tickets are $20/ea
