Speaker Bio: Tradd Cotter
In 1996, Tradd founded Mushroom Mountain, a groundbreaking venture dedicated to exploring diverse applications for fungi, including food production, environmental remediation, and natural alternatives to chemical pesticides. At Mushroom Mountain, they also created the first program in the United States for commercial foragers to become state-certified identification experts of East Coast fungi, raising the standards for safe and responsible mushroom harvesting. Their commitment to advancing mycological knowledge is evident in the best-selling book, Organic Mushroom Farming and Mycoremediation, published in 2014, which remains a valuable resource for both amateur and professional mushroom cultivators.
Tradd’s innovative research has earned numerous accolades, including the Clemson University Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the EPA GRO-U Fellowship Award. In 2022, they sold Mushroom Mountain to focus on psychedelic-assisted therapy and medical research, co-founding Blue Portal, a company specializing in psychedelic therapy, medicinal innovations, and industrial applications for fungi. Through engaging lectures and workshops, Tradd shares extensive knowledge and passion for fungi with audiences worldwide.
